belcanto: vintage rhinestone hairpieces

{ vintage rhinestone leaves hair comb }

le sigh. you, my readers, know i am not a friend of the bejeweled wedding tiara, generally speaking. have you seen a sparkly tiara on here? not so much. don't get me wrong: i *love* a good tiara. my roommate in grad school used to wear one while grading student papers. ah, memories. in the dead of night, in the dead of winter, in boston, in our jammies and tiaras. but that was an ironic tiara, whereas so many wedding tiaras are so... sincerely... tiara-ish, for lack of a better term.

(i don't mean to start a fight, sparkle-tiaraphiles -- just a little difference of opinion.)

but here is bel canto, italian for 'beautiful singing' -- the multi-talented mari is a singer and voice teacher by day who, by night, makes gorgeous hair ornaments (yes, even tiaras) out of vintage rhinestone brooches -- a little something old/something new in one package. check out her beautiful work: bel diademi!

  1. You have just complicated my world. Here I was thinking I had narrowed my hair ornament choices down to 4 or 5 (which is waaay down from where it started) and then you go and post this! With lots of BEAUTIFUL options!!!! Troublemaker!!!! ;-)

  4. Yeah the Tiara is so overrated. I totally think it's a bright idea to do something different. These pieces are beautiful. I wish I would have thought to go this route especially for my bridesmaids.
