the lovely folks at sandisk want to give *you* free things! you may have seen this on weddingbee as well -- etsy wedding has ten (count them! ten! ten flash drives! wa ha ha!**) of these *very* cool SanDisk Cruzer Gator USB flash drives to give away for absolutely free:

a lovely thing to customize. to enter the giveaway, please write a comment with your ideas on what sorts of indie/sentimental/offbeat/ traditional things *you* would like to put on the drive -- as gifts for your bridal party, as a wedding favor, or as a gift for someone who can't be at the wedding.

two creative folks will receive 5 drives each; you have until noon EST friday 5/9 to enter. let me know if i've missed anything -- questions?

for your uploading/photosharing pleasure, i believe these drives are 4GB (black and red) and 2GB (pink), will update if otherwise. for such a teensy cute drive, that's *huge*. seriously. plenty of room for ...

  1. I'm maid of honor in my best friend's wedding, September 6, 2008. She's spent 3 of the last 5 years overseas with YWAM, an international non-profit missions/relief organization. I would love to use these beautiful wonderful drives to send a video of her marriage celebration to the five (isn't it perfect?!) bases around the world where she has spent so much time & given so much love, to share her joy with people who've played a huge role in her life, but can't be with us for her big day.

  2. My fiance and I have a TON of digital photos from the last eight years, so I would create photocollages for our party members that show the good times we've had together with each of them!

  3. Oh! Cool prize! I love it! This is such a cool gift for those who attended my engagement party! My friends have always been asking me about their pictures, but I've never had the time to print them out or burn them onto a cd. This would be great as I could give them the party pictures as well as their pictures ASAP! :) What a cool idea. Plus, digiscrapping is easy, so I could include a few layouts in there as well.

Thanks so much for the chance to win :)

  4. I would put a mixture of lovely things for my guests to indulge in. As a graphic designer and digital artist, I have alot of artwork that I could put on the flash drive. Also, I would put a few songs handpicked by myself and the groom, so our guests could sample the diversity of musical tastes between the two of us. And of course some photos!

  5. Without a doubt, I'd make a movie/slideshow of pictures of me and each bridal party member growing up, set to songs that are meaningful and special for us. Towards the end, I can include pictures of us from the wedding.

  6. I would give them to my mom and unofficial party, filled with music that might actually get them out of bed on the big day!

  7. i would load each one up with photos of each of my bridesmaids (with me of course) and give each one thumbdrive as part of their "thank you" goody bag. =)

  8. I would definitely use these as gifts for my bridesmaids, I have 5! I would create a slideshow of our good times together and throughout all the wedding planning (it's just getting started). I'd also include all the past photos that I've never gotten around to downloading for each bridesmaid and a thank you video. Technology is great!

  11. I'm always on the look out for gifts for the bridemaids and parents which will get used again -- these would be perfect.

I'd give them to my bridesmaids and one to each set of parents with pictures of us taken over the years and let them know there is space for many more pictures to be added in the upcoming years.

  12. Oh these are adorable! I'd definitely give these to my maid of honor and the best man. The rest would either go to other people who have helped with the wedding, OR we could do some kind of a contest at the wedding.

We are having a photobooth, so maybe whoever can take the funniest photobooth picture (as judged by the bride and groom), or who can answer a "How well do you know the bride and groom?" trivia quiz. Hmm, the game idea may need to be incorporated even w/o the flash drives!

As for what to put on them, I'd definitely want to put pictures from the wedding for one. We are already doing a website for all of our guests to upload their pictures from the wedding and i'd love people to be able to DL the pics to these drives.

Also the playlist for the wedding! My fiance and I have spent hours crafting the playlist and I'd love for people to take the songs home with them, and this would be way cooler than a mix cd!

  13. I would load each of the flash drives with things that pertained to each person - for example - i would fill the one for my maid of honor with indie music, fun videos that we enjoy, and lots of pictures from when we were growing up. For my bridesmaid, i would fill it with great dance music, lots of fun pictures, and perhaps some fun desktop graphics. The one i would give to my parents would have a photo slideshow of me through the years set to music...i think they would love that! Each of my attendants is so different, i would have a ball filling those little guys up!

  14. My bridesmaids would adore these! They are both very nerd-chic! My mom and my fiancé's mom would certainly like them as well.

I'm an interior designer but I've always dabbled in graphic design. I create greeting cards that I silkscreen, but I would make digital versions of them and set them up in a file that was printable for my ladies. Anytime the needed a card for any occasion (wedding, birthday, christmas, mothers day, just because, etc.) they could pull up the file and print it on card-stock. I would also include some personalized stationary on there for them, a customized design that suites their personalities.

I would load them up with digital versions of my silkscreen prints and photoshop corrected photos of us over the years as well.

    What a great gift idea!

  15. I would put a copy of the Wizard of Oz on the flash drive, plus tons of candid photos from the wedding for five very important people in our life. Why include the Wizard of Oz, you may ask? Well, my fiance and I met while watching Wizard of Oz (dubbed to Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon) at a movie theater. We stated casually talking...and we are now engaged three years later. We are getting married in a historic movie theater and will again be playing (briefly) the Wizard of Oz before our ceremony. I want to share our love of movies, and pictures of our wedding with people we are so lucky to have in our lives.

  17. All of my maids have our pictures on online services, but no one has them anywhere else--it would be great to download everyone's pictures from all the different services on the drives so we could all have them.

  18. We are having a small wedding with one attendant each-so it is very important for us to be able to tell our families and our attendants how special it is to share our day with them. I visualize a "surprise PDF letter" with our message for them to read the fist time they use the drives. Plus a special photo or MP3 that is significant to the relationship we have with each of the recipients. (We would hate to full them up before the big day-they need to be able to trade and share digital photos before they all leave town)

  19. I'm having three receptions (crazy, I know), so after everything is said and done, I would fill them up with all the photos, videos and music playlists from the three receptions and give one to each side of the family and also keep one for ourselves in our safety deposit box at the bank!

That way our memories will survive as long as the flash drives survives...

  20. I would give them to my bridesmaids with pictures of us through the years and songs that remind me (an hopefully them) of times we spent together.

  21. I am a voice-over artist and my fiance is a poet, and we've recorded a collection of: poetry (original and other authors), music (he plays the hammered dulcimer and I play the flute), love songs (sung - sometimes not well - by the two of us!) and a play ("Sure Thing," by David Ives, about a young couple meant for each other). A thoughtfully-sequenced compilation of these original tracks would be a perfect gift for our five parents! We were thinking of making CDs, but your sandisks would be big enough for us to include a special "thank you" home video - perfect!!!!

  22. I would most definitely give one as a gift to my photographer - and the other 4 to my bridesmaids, many of whom are still finishing up school. Students and photographers are the two groups of people I think would use these the most - so this would be perfect!

  23. I would love to use each of the 5 to document 1 year of marriage (special pictures and songs that are meaningful to my future husband and me that year, etc.) and then give him all 5 as a 5 year anniversary present. (We're getting married this summer).
