color fun: what's your color?

hello all! i don't think my last post made much sense. ah, sauvignon blanc and blogging -- never the twain should meet.

anyway! how about i make it up to you and try out something interactive? if you're into the whole thematic color thing, comment with your particular colors you like and the time of year you're thinking of, and i'll see if i can't come up with a sampler for you. am sure there are some interesting tales -- how did you possibly decide on which color?

cheer,
j

  1. Oooh fun! Our colors are ivory and celadon and the wedding is December 27, 2008. We're going with a nature theme and trying to avoid anything Christmassy.

  2. The very first aspect I decided on for my wedding was purple tulips, the really dark purple ones. They have always been my favorite. I decided to mix them with the dark pink ones, so my colors are dark purple, dark pink, and light green.

  3. Oops. My wedding is May 16, 2009.

  4. I'm a big fan of cool ocean colors. Light blue, seafoam green, sand, and maybe some lilac to round out the cool outdoor vibe.

  5. I like this! My colors are champagne and cornflower blue and my wedding is August 31st! I am stuck on what to get my Mother and my FH's Mother and what to get his Father- any inspiration is much appreciated!

  6. Right now, we're thinking October or November 2009.

The colours I'm rooting for are steel grey, with a variety of light and dark blues, but NO tiffany blue.

  8. Modern black and white stripe, black and white damask, and moss green. My wedding is October 4th - so it's a Fall wedding.

  9. we're doing bright red and bright turquoise, next april. sometimes it seems like a good combination, sometimes i fear it will look circus-y. although the circus is kind of cool, in a creepy, sad sort of way. not sure that's the kind of vibe we want to create.

  10. We are getting married outside at my parent's home October 4th and our colors are greens (sage, mint, grass), browns, and creams. We are avoiding the harvest/fall theme, but I still need to figure out centerpieces! (We are thinking of growing wheatgrass in galvanized tins...) Any help is greatly appreciated!

  11. We're doing a sage/moss green, black and white and trying to keep it modern and simple. Our wedding is October 12th. We're doing limes in a fishbowl for the centerpieces, and green and black and white pinwheels for our favors

  12. Good topic! Our colours are gree, lavender, and a crisp white (ignore what my blog says). We picked them b/c I had already bought the green shoes & wasn't giving them up, the FI's fav colour is lavender (and I love him for admiting it), & my dress is clean white. :)

  13. Our colors are ivory, chocolate brown, pink, and light green. My inspiration is the season when our wedding will take place- Spring. The date is May 30th and I'm hoping the reception will look like a big, lush garden.

  14. Well, I could actually use some help! Our wedding is August 1 (2009) in a lodge. I know the accent color should be red because my dress is red (yes, solid red!). But I don't want that to be the main color. I want a fresh color that pops next to it then, either turquoise or a yellowy-green. Then beige, brown, black, neutrals. I have more of a color flow in my head than 2 specific colors. I'm thinking of those funky retro modern rooms where things are clean and mostly neutral but then have fun, bright color pops. Call it a challenge ;)

  15. We're thinking late summer of 2009 (Aug-ish), with ivory and black and some classic red accents (not lady-of-the-night red, but a nice, rich, deep red).

  16. Good idea! Earthy greens (sage, willow, clover, emeralds) with accents of plum/aubergine and lavender. Late summer wedding.

  17. This is fun! Our date is February 28, 2009 and in my little corner of So Cal that means early Spring. Although people say we have no seasons it's the one time of year the hills are green. It will be a casual day with friends and family. Our colors are chartreuse, a deep pink and light blue (green hydrangeas and roses in blue enamel buckets).

  18. Our colours are tomato red and a grass green... we're getting married in June next year, and I'm thinking tomatoes, strawberries, that sort of thing. Country-ish.
    Whee!

Our wedding colors are ivory, dove grey, and black (with a few bits of white and silver).

We are having the "anti-pink wedding". And chose our wedding colors based upon our location -- the northern pacific coast.

  22. Great idea! Our colors are dark purple and a soft green... our theme is Purple Rain. =D I really desperately love the new moon series carnations out of Australia... sooooo gorgeous.

    Let's see what you got!

  23. you've got a lot of work on your hands, but i'm going to through my in too. my wedding will have a light taupe base color accented by jewel tones - mostly purples, greens, and blues - with some pink highlights.

  24. Do mine! Do mine! I am using ivories/cremes and black; very clean and very vintage. Going for the total classic, simple package. Wedding is next month, Aug 09, 2008!

  25. Our wedding is on 9/14/08 and our colors are "mango, raspberry, & green." In keeping with the fruit theme, I like to say "mango, raspberry & kiwi".

  26. how exciting! it would be neat to see someone else do an inspiration board..just for me! i chose honey as my main color. there are a couple of reasons for this..i am deathly afraid of bees, but I absolutely adore honey in my tea..(kind of like getting married - scary trip to "i do", but what a sweet life it will be to share it with the man i adore). i also chose it because it is so vintag-y..which is my theme, which is why ivory is my second choice. We are getting married may 30, 2009 in a garden on an old plantation in nashville, tn.

    hope that helps! thanks.

  27. I want to play!

Our wedding will be in October 2009, and our main color is pewter, because it's my favourite colour. Aaron's niece is the flowergirl, so he wants the accent color to be pale pink, so she can wear a little pink dress. I want to wear an ivory dress.

I also want to include some gold/mauve somehow (like, the darker, richer versions of the ivory and pale pink). I am not sure how all that will look with the pewter.

We've been collecting antique coffee pots to use for vases in the centerpieces. We've done NOTHING else. :-)

  28. Very Fun!
I am doing Chocolate Brown, and light soft green or sage green on the beach in Florida in January!

  29. Black, violet, magenta (or maybe aqua, I waver on that one). Minimal, modern, and artsy/quirky is what I'm going for. Possibly next summer (July or August 09) but it might have to wait until October. :(

  30. our colors are rose, grey, and dark plum, and our wedding is in nov' 08. we're having a sunset ceremony at a garden. i'm a huge fan of the colors grey and rose, and the flowers that will be in bloom around that time will be dark plum.

  31. LOVE your site. My wedding date is May 30th, 2009. Our colors are spring/apple green, navy and light blue as an accent color. Our theme is preppy/nautical chic. Newport/Hamptons vibe.

  32. The colors for my November '08 wedding are a leafy/olive green with ivory and metallic gold. The flowers will also have some peach hues layered with the whites and greens.

  33. We choose our colors are to match our location and season of wedding. We are getting married this October. The colors are: cornflower blue (the color of the sky on a beautiful Kentucky day) Burnt Orange, (the color that all the leaves will all be by the wedding) and Choclate brown, because it's a lovely color.

  34. Our colors are a deep Fushia with accents of Navy and Silver. The girls will wear a full length gown in Fushia and their bouquets will be tied with Navy ribbon, shoes will be silver. My dress is Ivory. We're getting married September 13, 2008!

Our underlying theme is Art Deco and carries through our Invites, web page and reception venue-they used it to film the Copacabana! You can check out our design theme at our website-laceyandchris.com I thought the minute I would get engaged that I would know exactly what colors I wanted but that was the decision that took me the longest.

  38. This is fun :) I'm not quuuuite engaged yet (although I can tell its coming soon!). Now I just have a good head start on all the hard decisions, right? Anyways my/our colors are ivory, natural/nude, bright wood, pale yellow, leaf green, and charcoal. I envision an elegant vintage garden wedding with a touch of whimsical. Obviously in the summer, since Minnesota in the winter doesn't really allow for garden weddings :)

  39. My Wedding is May 16, 2009. We've chose the main color theme to be sage or medium green, white, with lavender accents. As I was searching favors, I came across a great idea from Marth Stewart to do small baskets filled with Strawberries and Scones, and I really love that. So now, I am considering changing the colors to Green with Red accents. Any feedback??

  40. hi!
I'm just starting on my wedding plans.
We're looking into bright yellow, light grey/silver, and maybe a very pale pink.
Our wedding is going to be in California, summer of 2009.

We want something vibrate and fun b/c we want to do an outside wedding/reception. We're even playing with the idea of a carnival theme.
any ideas would be much appreciated!

  41. Jen, I don't know if you've ever seen 2 Weeks notice with Sandra Bullock, but their is a scene where they are at a black tie benefit that is a carnival theme. I would research that scene because they made it classy and fun without being too over the 'bigtop'!

  42. Hello! I'm getting married, sort of a garden theme in August, 2009. I definitely want orange, but i'm trying to come up with some other colors as well. probably a brown. any ideas???

  43. We are having a late May 2009wedding. I have picked celadon, lavendar and white. I hope it turns out right.

  44. Ooh! I hope you'll pick me, since I haven't found anything online with my exact color palette: chocolate brown and pewter accented with orange. Our wedding is September 19, 2009 in Rhode Island. Fall is my favorite season, so I want our wedding to reflect that - without being cheesy of course. Cheers!

  45. Please pick me! I love the idea of a navy color themed wedding, and for the accent color we've decided on a sage-y green. I would love some ideas - especially for gifts!

  46. hehe, I -just- found you blog and am surfing through the archives. 10.10.10 in the mountains in Colorado (deep in the middle/late season of leaves). we're going with mossy green/navy/ivory, blatantly stolen from Real Simple, and which happen to match the carpet in our venue.
